John McCain is beginning to look a little obsessed with obstructing President Donald Trump at every possible turn, no matter the collateral damage to his own political career.
The longtime senator from Arizona, and poster child for the establishment of congressional term limits, has spent the better part of the last 2 months working tirelessly to stymy, stifle, and stick it to the President in any way possible. Now, as the nation prepares for yet another onslaught of allegation against Trump, something that polls show Americans are sick of, McCain is taking his criticisms to another level of absurdity, claiming that congress is no longer to be trusted with investigating claims against the administration.
“Congress no longer has the credibility to independently tackle a probe of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and President Trump and his associates’ ties to Moscow, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Wednesday.
“‘It’s a bizarre situation, and what I think, the reason why I’m calling for this select committee or a special committee, is I think that this back-and-forth and what the American people have found out so far that no longer does the Congress have credibility to handle this alone,’ McCain told MSNBC’s Greta Van Susteren. ‘And I don’t say that lightly.’
“McCain’s comments come amid an increasingly bitter feud that erupted between members of the House Intelligence Committee earlier Wednesday, after the panel’s chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) claimed that he had seen evidence that the U.S. intelligence community incidentally surveilled members of Trump’s transition team.”
The Russian meddling fairy tale is the fake news story that just won’t disappear, and it is mostly due to the wild and unverifiable accusations of the left. Now, with McCain standing firmly behind those same agitators, one must wonder where his true allegiances lie on the partisan line.
