Holy Crow.

Everyday we spend time remarking at how insane the left seems to have become, and everyday I am surprised at the rhetoric and commentary being spewed by our political opponents. At some point, I need to stop being so surprised, but so much of what is being bandied about in the mainstream media today is just… unbelievable.

Today’s example comes to us from MSNBC, one of the network’s most prominent terrorism analysts is a gentleman by the name of Malcom Nance. Nance is a former Navy Officer, who obviously leans left, and is an expert in counterterrorism and radical Islam. However, while Nance is a very intelligent man, he apparently left that intelligence at home when he decided to Tweet the following:

Yes, that tweet is exactly what it seems to be. Nance, perhaps tongue in cheek, is openly hoping that ISIS chooses to bomb Trump Tower in Istanbul, Turkey. The tweet was in response to reports that President Trump called Turkey’s President Erdogan to congratulate him on his recent electoral win (Turkey just voted on a referendum to give Erdogan more power as President). In all honesty, if Trump called to congratulate the Turkish despot, he was wrong for doing so… but Nance’s tweet is still horribly distasteful and insensitive.

Apparently Nance realized that he’d just made a big mistake because he quickly deleted the tweet… but not before his fans warned him that the tweet might be “misrepresented.” To which one observer remarked, “Careful. Don’t want people to ‘misrepresent’ exactly what you said.”

The Washington Free Beacon points out that this isn’t the first time that Nance has said something stupid, and it calls into question his relevance as an expert on terrorism and Islam.

During the presidential election, Nance accused Trump of propping up ISIS through his actions and words.

“I will go so far as to say Donald Trump is the ISIS candidate,” Nance said. “He inflames the passions of people in the West to perform Islamophobia, to draw recruits to them, to make them say, ‘This is what America is.’”

Nance also nodded along when MSNBC host Thomas Roberts speculated in 2016 that the ISIS-affiliated Nice truck killer was just a mentally ill person who “took a moment to challenge society in a horrific way.”

“We’ve seen that,” he agreed. “We call them EDPs. Extremely disturbed persons, or emotionally disturbed persons.”
