Homeland Security is extending temporary protected status for Sudanese and South Sudanese nationals.

The Department of Homeland Security said those from Sudan can remain and work in the U.S. until November of 2018.

Their designation will then end since conditions in Sudan no longer support TSP status.

This extension is meant for them to plan for their upcoming departure or apply for other types of visas.

In the meantime, South Sudanese nationals are protected until May of 2019 due to a civil war raging in their home country.

Designations for both groups were set to expire this November.
