Attorneys filed four negligence lawsuits against Las Vegas company MGM Resorts International following last month’s mass shooting out of the Mandalay Bay hotel.

On Monday, Houston-based lawyers Chad Pinkerton and Mo Aziz filed the suits in Los Angeles instead of Las Vegas.

Pinkerton said the intent is to get the cases in front of a jury less likely to be influenced by the size and clout of a casino company.

Attorneys argue MGM Resorts would have clear advantages if the case was handled in Las Vegas as it’s one of the largest employers in Nevada.

The lawsuits were filed on behalf of 450 injured victims in the attack as well as two wrongful death suits.

Plaintiffs are seeking compensation from the shooters estate.

The attorneys are arguing that the event was the largest venue security failure in U.S. history, resulting in the death of 58 concert-goers.

Pinkerton said the tragedy could have been avoided had the hotel implemented its saftey procedures.

The company also owns the Route 91 Harvest Festival and venue, which became a fishbowl for attendees during the attack.
