Florida sheriffs strike a deal with ICE officials to allow local authorities to hold criminal illegal immigrants past the normal release time.

More than a dozen Florida sheriffs finalized an agreement with ICE on Wednesday, allowing them to detain illegal immigrants for up to two days after their scheduled release.

This comes in response to a series of court rulings that argued holding illegal immigrants beyond their regular release time violates the Fourth Amendment.
Florida
ICE agreed to reimburse Florida’s local authorities for housing the illegal immigrants for a longer period.

The agency said the deal will prevent criminal illegal immigrants from returning to the streets.
