The Trump administration is expected to approve a plan to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as early as 2019.
According to reports, a temporary plan has been introduced to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
The plan involves a U.S. consulate building, which will be used as the interim U.S. embassy until a new one is built.
Tillerson said the process to build a facility with significant security requirements will start immediately, but will take a few years.
Reports say, Vice President Mike Pence is pushing for the proposal to be approved, so he can announce it during his upcoming trip to Israel.
