Republicans on Capitol Hill are calling for another special counsel to investigate the FBI’s probe into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server during her tenure as secretary of state.
Senator Ron Johnson, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray demanding an explanation of the agency’s negligence.
The demand comes after the FBI failed to preserve five months worth of text messages between two anti-Trump investigators on the Mueller team — Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
New text messages between Strzok and Page have also surfaced in which they say they faced pressure to wrap up the Clinton email investigation.
President Trump is shocked the FBI lost thousands of text messages from former investigators in the Russia probe.
He called the development one of the biggest stories in a long time.

Democrats have dismissed the call for a second special counsel, accusing them of pushing a conspiracy to undermine Mueller’s investigation.
Meanwhile, some Republicans have called on Congress to subpoena the cell carrier to retrieve the text messages.
