Syrian government forces advance in the area bordering Damascus and Ghouta as heavy fighting in the region continues.
State media showed footage of the Syrian Army and its allies break apart rebel lines over the weekend to surround the town of Douma.
Reports say at least 12 civilians died in airstrikes Sunday with more than 1,000 killed since the conflict began three weeks ago.
The advance cut both Douma and another town from the rest of the rebel enclave.
Rebel groups vowed to fight on as the conflict continues despite repeated calls for a ceasefire from U.N. aid agencies.
