America cannot exist without the First Amendment.  It is simply absurd to believe otherwise, and those who would attempt to convince us of such lies will have to exist with that for the rest of their lives.

I’m speaking about the “masters of the universe” over at Google and Facebook here, knowing full well that the axe comes for me soon.

You see, dear reader, we are at a crossroads in our nation’s history.  The internet was a gift bestowed on the people of the world, from which they could gain enlightenment.  With the instantaneous sharing of information allowed by such a device, the people would no longer be divided, sequestered, or compartmentalized by whomever “the powers that be” truly are.  (My money is on the advertisers).  With Wikipedia and Wikileaks, we could become functionally omnipotent, and therefore dangerous to anyone who was already a danger to us.

The ruse would be revealed.  The curtain, pulled.  Knowledge really was power…this wasn’t just some cheesy slogan from the Reagan Era.

The First Amendment itself, in a nearly divine bit of political prophecy, prepared us for this.  We The People are not to be stifled in our ideas and opinions, and now we not only hold those powerful opinions in a clenched fist, but we find ourselves with a sharp and swift tool capable of delivering those ideas at a moment’s notice.

What Google and Facebook are attempting to do is akin to dragging that tool of enlightenment behind a truck on their way to the tallest tree in town.

You see, when Facebook says that one opinion is more valuable or valid than another, they deny you and I the right to decide for ourselves.  They have now become the culture creators, and they will suffocate us with their own personal ideologies through the dueling missives of omission and censorship.

Let me speak directly to the coders at these internet megaliths for a moment, with a clunky analogy:  Freedom is binary.  You either have it, or you don’t.  You’re either ‘1’ or ‘0’ with freedom.

You can’t scale it, grade it, or selectively employ it.  It is simply freedom.  And when Facebook and Google direct nearly all of the bandwidth on the internet, they should not be allowed to decide what freedom is.  That’s not freedom…that’s some other authoritarian, totalitarian scenario altogether.

And it’s not as though Google isn’t willing to bend to the nations in which they are operating.  For months, they have been working on a heavily censored version of their search engine for China…why not keep everything uncensored for America and their First Amendment?

The latest battle in this war over information comes to us from Facebook today, where over 800 pages and profiles were deleted, in a clear targeting of political viewpoints.

Facebook said on Thursday that it has purged more than 800 U.S publishers and accounts for flooding users with politically oriented content that violated the company’s spam policies, a move that could reignite accusations of political censorship.

The accounts and pages, with names such as Reasonable People Unite and Reverb Press, were probably domestic actors using clickbait headlines and other spammy tactics to drive users to websites where they could target them with ads, the company said. Some had hundreds of thousands of followers and expressed a range of political viewpoints, including a page that billed itself as “the first publication to endorse President Donald J. Trump.” They did not appear to have ties to Russia, company officials said.

And what recourse do these users have?

Ever since Russian operatives used Facebook to target American voters ahead of the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Facebook has been under immense pressure to crack down on content that could disrupt the democratic process in the United States. But the challenge of policing domestic content is even thornier than going after foreign interference because it’s harder to define what constitutes legitimate political expression. By removing the groups entirely, Facebook is effectively saying that they will not have an opportunity to redeem themselves.

And not all of the pages targeted were conservative in nature either.  A number of far left-leaning publications found themselves beheaded by the Facebook guillotine as well, meaning that this is not a battle against the left or the right, but an affront to all Americans who aren’t currently ruling over us from their ironically-badged position as “public servant”.

In other words; the only narrative to be believed is the one you hear on television.  We The People are not to speak our minds or investigate further, and we definitely can’t share our findings on Facebook.

So, dear reader, if this is one of my last dispatches to you, I want to thank you for keeping the faith in this nation’s unique and unalterable freedoms.  We may lose these figurative battles, but the war for very soul of America will continue thanks to patriots such as yourselves.

Please, if you’ve never shared a story from us before, now would be the time.  The very future of our freedom depends on it.
