At a roundtable discussion at the White House Monday, the president emphasized the difficulty in funding projects as well as the need to speed up the permit process from a ten year review to a two year wait period.

His plan is projected to bolster U.S. infrastructure by $1.5 trillion to $1.7 trillion, $50 billion of which will be allocated specifically to rural infrastructure.

President Trump also illustrated the plan as a way to empower state and local governments to give back to the people of America.

“We’re here today to discuss the critical need to rebuild America’s crumbling infrastructure and one understands, and the people in this room really understand better than most probably — hopefully better than anybody — that the problem the states have and local leaders have with funding the infrastructure is horrendous,” stated the president.

President Trump claims the infrastructure overhaul is key in assuring the economy reaches its full potential.
