The president is pushing forward with his ‘America first’ agenda by moving to crack down on what he says are unfair trade practices.
On Monday, President Trump said he will propose a tax on imports, but did not elaborate on the details of the so-called “reciprocal tax.”

He suggested he would propose a similar tax last year, but was faced with resistance on Capitol Hill over fears it could result in tensions with major trading partners.
He singled out countries such as China, Japan, and South Korea as recipients of trade deals with the U.S.
The president indicated such deals are against U.S. interest, saying he can’t sit back and watch.
“We cannot continue to let people come into our country and rob us blind and charge us tremendous tariffs and taxes and we charge them nothing,” said President Trump. “We cannot allow that to happen.”
President Trump also said the administration is moving forward with its plans to renegotiate NAFTA with the next round of talks set to begin in Mexico later this month.
