House Speaker Paul Ryan speaks about the early success of tax reform and re-building the nations military.

During a press briefing Thursday, Ryan noted that in the short period of time since the bill’s passage middle class families are already seeing their lives improve.

He said employers are responding positively to the new law by handing out bonuses and raising wages for their workers.

In addressing the need to re-build the military, Ryan stressed the Air Force is historically small, the Navy fleet is aging, and military enlistment is down.

He says Congress is adamantly working to improve benefits for service members.

As deadline to pass the spending bill fast approaches, Ryan says negotiations on cap agreements are underway.
