The U.S. responds to airstrikes in Yemen that left dozens of people, including children, dead.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said the U.S. is concerned about the incident and calls on all parties to take appropriate measures to protect civilians in the area, during a briefing Thursday.

This comes after officials said Saudi-led strikes left at least 50 people dead and 80 injured in northern Yemen.

The strikes also hit a bus, as children were on a field trip, according to reports.

“We call on the Saudi-led coalition to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident,” said Nauert. We take all credible accounts of civilian causalities very seriously.”

More than 10 thousand people have been killed as a result of the war in Yemen.
