The U.S. has donated more than $18 million worth of weapons systems to the Philippines as part of anti-terrorism efforts.
National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien met with Filipino leaders on Monday to discuss regional security and protecting U.S. interests in the Southeast Asian nation.
The U.S. also delivered on its promise to support the Philippines war on terror by providing the country with ”smart-bombs” and laser-guided precision munitions.
“This transfer underscores our strong and enduring commitment to a critical alliance,” O’Brien stated. “We hope these precision guided missiles, ammunitions, will help the AFP protect Philippine lives in Mindanao and end the needless suffering imposed by ISIS-East Asia.”

The Filipino foreign affairs minister said the delivery was the “”fulfillment of a promise” made by President Trump earlier this year.
