On Tuesday, a “hazardous materials incident” was reported at Givaudan Sense Colour facility.

According to the Louisville Metro Emergency Services, the cause of the explosion is still unknown at this time. Officials also stated that all who were injured are employees of the facility.

They further stated that residents within two blocks of Givaudan Sense Colour were evacuated and a shelter-in-place order was issued for those within a 1-mile radius of the facility, but it has since been lifted.

Agents with Louisville’s division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are now responding and assisting with the “critical incident.” The agency announced that they have been monitoring the area, but that it looks clear.

Governor Andy Beshear (D-Ky.) urged those in the area to follow guidance from local officials “while responders work to secure the area.” He also added that he is “praying for the safety of all involved.”
