Brian Kemp is resigning as Georgia’s secretary of state, as he looks to focus on his upcoming role as governor.

Kemp submitted his resignation to current Governor Nathan Deal Thursday.

While votes are still being counted, he has declared victory over Democrat challenger Stacey Abrams, however Abrams has refused to concede.

The official result of the race will be announced once more than 280,000 mail-in ballots are counted.
