House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) calls for bipartisan cooperation in congress, in what many believe is a surprise move.

The veteran congresswoman said democrats and republicans must work together to deliver positive results for the American people, she said in a statement Tuesday.

She urged lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to negotiate practical solutions “wherever possible.”

Pelosi, however also said democrats would still oppose President Trump’s agenda on healthcare reform, but reiterated, “the era of bitter partisan division in American politics must end.”

“Last night, I had a conversation with President Trump about how we could work together. We will strive for bipartisanship, we believe that we have a responsibility to seek common ground where we can. Where we cannot, we must stand our ground,” she added.

President Trump also called for unity from both sides, for his part.
