U.S. District Court Judge Daniel D. Domenico has ruled in favor of two Colorado churches fighting Covid-19 restrictions. On Thursday, the court handed down the decision and permitted two churches to congregate in greater numbers and without masks.

The ruling allows the Denver Bible Church and Community Baptist Church in Brighton, Colo. to gather without restrictions.

Both churches had filed lawsuits against the state for trying to limit religious gatherings while other more secular gatherings were allowed. Church leaders have said they are thankful for the victory and for the opportunity to worship unrestricted.

“We were so thankful that a federal court would recognize our God-given right to worship him,” Pastor Bob Enyart of Denver Bible Church noted. “We can actually sing…and we can gather.”

Meanwhile, state officials have said they appealed the decision and will take it to a higher court. Once the appeals case is fully resolved, other churches may be able to follow the precedent set in the case.
