The presidential debate on Thursday was a much calmer affair than the first clash between President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

But while the exchanges were more civilized than September’s first debate, there was still plenty of lies coming out of Biden — and the mainstream media let him get away with it.

The Horn News has the straight facts. Of course, there were more than four lies by Biden. For example, he misled viewers with false claims of the U.S.-China trade deficit, and said coronavirus cases were only spiking in red states. Both are untrue.

But here are Biden’s four biggest whoppers —

Lie #1

BIDEN: “Not one single person with private insurance would lose their insurance under my plan, nor did they under Obamacare, they did not lose their insurance unless they chose they wanted to go to something else.”

THE FACTS: He’s wrong about Obamacare.

Then-President Barack Obama promised if you liked your health insurance, you could keep it under his Affordable Care Act, but that’s not what happened.

When Obamacare took effect in 2014, several million people lost individual health insurance plans that no longer met minimum standards established by the law. A backlash forced the White House to offer a work-around, but the political damage was done.

Lie #2

BIDEN: “He says about the Poor Boys, last time we were on a stage here, said — I told them to stand down and stand ready. Come on. This guy has a dog whistle as big as a foghorn.”

THE FACTS: No. That is not what Trump said, and that is not the name of the controversial group.

During the last debate, Trump was asked if he would condemn white supremacist and militia groups that have shown up at some protests in the U.S. Trump said, “Give me a name” and Biden chimed in by saying, “Proud Boys,” a reference to the far-right group that has shown up at protests in the Pacific Northwest. Those protests, at times, have turned violent.

“Proud Boys, stand back. Stand by,” Trump said. He did not tell them to “stand ready.”

Trump has repeatedly, forcibly condemned white supremacists throughout his time in office.

Lie #3

BIDEN: “I never said I oppose fracking.”

THE FACTS: Wrong. In a 2019 debate, Biden said “we would make sure it’s eliminated” when he was questioned about fracking and coal. And earlier this year, Biden said he was opposed to any “new fracking” proposals.

Trump challenged Biden on his assertion that he supported fracking. Biden asked Trump to “show the tape.”

Lie #4

BIDEN: Said Donald Trump was responsible for the child separation of illegal immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

THE FACTS: Blaming Trump for the cages and child seperation is misleading and a matter that Democrats have persistently distorted.

Trump used facilities that were built during the Obama-Biden administration to house children at the border. They are chain-link enclosures inside border facilities where migrants were temporarily housed, separated by sex and age.

At the height of the controversy over Trump’s zero-tolerance policy at the border, photos that circulated online of children in the enclosures generated great anger. But those photos — by The Associated Press — were taken in 2014 and depicted some of the thousands of unaccompanied children held by President Barack Obama.

When that fact came to light, some Democrats and activists who had tweeted the photos deleted their tweets. But prominent Democrats have continued to cite cages for children as the distinctive cruelty of Trump.
