Outgoing UN envoy Nikki Haley speaks out about the delay in a planned meeting between U.S. and North Korean officials.

Haley said Pyongyang was not ready for the upcoming meeting with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in New York.

Haley said North Korea requested to reschedule the meeting for one week without specifying the reason why.

The UN envoy stressed the ongoing diplomatic effort to denuclearize North Korea is gradually moving forward, despite the delay.

“The threat of peace and security by weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. That threat still there,” said Haley. They still have their facilities. They have still not allowed inspectors to go and inspect the nuclear facility or the ballistic missile facility. And as long as that’s happening we need to stay the course and we will continue to do that.”

Haley also reaffirmed the Trump administration’s commitment to maintaining the maximum pressure campaign, until the full denuclearization of North Korea.
