Polish security forces have arrested a Chinese Huawei employee on allegations of spying. According to reports, two men were taken into custody Tuesday.

While one was identified as the Huawei employee, the other was described as a Polish citizen and former security official. Both were taken in on spying allegations, but officials said the charges are related to their individual actions and are not linked to the Chinese tech giant.

Both men have reportedly heard the charges against them and will be held for three-months.

“I am not aware of any significant cooperation of Polish agents with foreign agencies in this investigation, though it is possible that there was some involvement, Polish security services are in regular contact with their foreign partners,” said Stanislaw Zaryn, spokesman for Polish Security Services.

No evidence has been made public yet, but the allegations led several western countries to restrict Huawei access to their markets.

China’s foreign ministry reportedly said it was “greatly concerned” by the arrest, while Huawei said it was aware of the situation.
