President Trump is irate over reports of National Guard troops being stopped at gunpoint by Mexican military at the southern border.

In a tweet Wednesday, the president said the draw of weapons was probably a “diversionary tactic for drug smugglers” and it “better not happen again.”

The president went further stating, “we are now sending armed soldiers to the border.”

His comment comes after the Associated Press reported U.S. soldiers were stopped and questioned by Mexican troops this month, while conducting a surveillance operation on the U.S. side of the border.

In a separate tweet Wednesday, President Trump praised the men and women on the front line of the border crisis. More than 418,000 illegal aliens have been apprehended by Border Patrol and law enforcement this year despite little cooperation from Mexico.

President Trump encouraged Democrats in Congress to take action on border security.

This comes as House Democrats filed a lawsuit against the administration in an attempt to block the spending of discretionary funds on the border wall. They are claiming Congress did not authorize the funding.
