President Trump strongly asserted South Korea will not lift sanctions against Pyongyang without his approval.

The president doubled-down on the comment Wednesday by saying the maximum pressure campaign will continue until North Korea fully denuclearizes.

He was responding to South Korea’s foreign minister, who hinted the country may soon begin easing sanctions. The foreign minister even claimed several were already under review. The North Korean official has since backtracked on those remarks.

President Trump is now preparing for a second meeting with Kim Jong Un, further building off the success of their June summit.

“You know, people don’t realize the importance of the first meeting — I mean, we said: ‘point number one, denuclearization’ and for some reason the press doesn’t pick that up, but that was actually point number one,” stated the president. “They’ve agreed to denuclearization and they continue to agree…we haven’t removed sanctions, we have very big sanctions — I would love to remove them, but we have to get something for doing it.”

President Trump said the date and time of a second summit will be announced soon, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is working very hard to set it up.
