In an amazing turn of events the ultra liberal Fareed Zakaria actually spoke some sense, not once, but twice in recent days!
Zakaria noted that Republicans were becoming increasingly unwelcome on college campuses, which doesn’t make much sense when colleges pretend that they are places of learning. Campuses are protesting mainstream and moderate conservatives wherever and whenever they appear (see other examples here and here). When Republicans as moderate and left-leaning as Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, and even non-Republican human rights activists like Ayaan Hirsi Ali are protested it proves that liberal College students have become parodies of themselves. They’ve become the very fascist, close-minded, hatemongers they pretend to rage against.
Here’s how Zakaria put it:
“Freedom of speech and thought is not just for warm fuzzy ideas that we find comfortable, it’s for ideas that we find offensive… there is also an anti-intellectualism on the left. An attitude of self-righteousness that says we are so pure, we are so morally superior; we cannot bear to hear an idea with which we disagree. Liberals think they are tolerant but often they aren’t,” Zakaria tolds his audience that a Pew survey from last year found that 70% of Democrats believed Republicans were close-minded, but only 52% of Republicans believed the same of their Democrat friends. “But each side scores about the same in terms of close-mindedness and hostility to hearing contrarian views,” Zakaria said.

Zakaria delivered a similar message to the students graduating from Bucknell University, around 8:30 into his speech he touches on the anti-intellectualism that has infected liberal college campuses.
