The United States is in the grips of a perception epidemic, with the mainstream media dinosaurs attempting to brand any and all competition as unreliable.

Fake news:  It is the battlecry of the liberally-slanted mainstream media, and their most frequently employed weapon in their war on conservative values.  It began as a simple tactic, exploited by the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign of 2016 in order to delegitimize and reports containing damning information about the democratic nominee.  At first, many believed that Clinton and her cronies were simply referring to satire websites and completely fictitious internet destinations that pop up in the sidebar advertising of some of our favorite sites.  We hoped that Clinton was referring to the journalistic equivalent of a Nigerian prince scheme.

Instead, Clinton and the democrats were referring to legitimate, non-liberal new sites such as Breitbart, claiming that the facts that they report were somehow illegitimate as compared to CNN, MSNBC, and others.

The assertion began as a preemptive maneuver to stave off the coming accusations of election fraud and debate cheating which were soon discovered to be part and parcel to the DNC, thanks to Wikileaks.  The disclosures made by Julian Assange unleashed a frenzy of “fake news” accusations across the entire media landscape, with Clinton desperately trying to confuse the public as to what reports were “real”.  The damning information that Assange published needed to be undermined by Clinton, and her “fake news” crusade was the method she chose.

Unfortunately, Clinton’s contribution to the national discussion on media bias has backfired immensely, as many Americans have come to realize that CNN and their leftist colleagues are far better representations of what Hillary was describing than her original targets.  That reversal of fortune has inspired one man in Texas to take the argument against mainstream fake news to the next level.

“A Boerne man is making his voice heard loud and clear by renouncing ABC News and recent news coverage of President Donald Trump with a large billboard at I-10 and Buckskin Drive.

“It reads:

“’ABC News: I grew up with you. We are through. The Russians didn’t elect Donald Trump. I did.’

“The billboard was paid for by Kyle Courtney, according to a spokesman with his company Wellstar Groundwater Technologies.

“Courtney released the following statement to SBG San Antonio.

“’ABC News was the only channel I watched as a child growing up in Texas but I think they have lost touch with America and forgotten the working man. They don’t represent our voice anymore. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign was funded by the Clinton Foundation in close coordination with the media, and now we’re seeing them try to fix what they couldn’t fix during the election. They are doing everything they can, night after night, to create narratives and sway people’s direction to impeach Donald Trump. Our democracy is at stake when a major political party and the media are in bed together. I’m not asking anyone to boycott the Democratic party. I’m not in the brainwashing business, but the liberal media is.’”

This latest battle in the war over journalistic integrity has struck a nerve with many Americans, not just Courtney, and will surely continue long into President Trump’s first term.

As the internet continues to dominate the media landscape in the future, we must all be weary of the sources of our information.  Sites such as CNN and MSNBC must be considered as legitimate sources of “news” only if there are corroborating articles written on non-partisan platforms as well.  Otherwise, the liberal media’s ridiculous use of anonymous sources and leftist rhetoric has created an environment in which anything passes for news.
