President Trump says it’s too soon in the process for the Senate Republicans to be giving up on Obamacare repeal. After watching his Congressional allies collapse upon themselves in debating the ins-and-outs of Obamacare repeal, a frustrated President Trump has suggested that the GOP simply repeal Obamacare and then work on building something new, something better for the American people. Sadly, that idea while embraced by the VAST majority of Republicans (and conservatives) was quickly killed when moderate GOP voices said they wouldn’t support it. Even so, President Trump refuses to give up, and early this morning he told the nation that he would be meeting with GOP leaders to find a way for them to KEEP the promises they made to the American people.

In fact, right around the time that President Trump was tweeting about his morning meetings, his former right-hand man Corey Lewandowski was telling Fox and Friends that President Trump would be delivering on Obamacare repeal… and soon.

The Trump team seems overly optimistic considering the climate on Capitol Hill, where conservatives are preparing to allow their moderate friends commit political suicide.

One Republican told the Washington Examiner on Tuesday that this is exactly McConnell’s plan.

“These members have to be held accountable,” said one anonymous Republican to the Washington Examiner. “They have been hiding behind him — and hiding behind process arguments — for months now.”

This move is one that has been endorsed by several conservative leaders as a way to hold these moderate liars accountable for refusing to do what they’ve been saying they would do for the last 7 years. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is excited for the opportunity to unmask the pseudo-conservatives who have been hiding themselves within the GOP caucus. He told Good Morning America‘s George Stephanopoulos that Congress would get a chance to vote on repealing Obamacare, and that it was a “victory” for conservatives. The implication being that this vote will prove that while GOP conservatives are standing by their promises – it’s the moderate RINO’s who have decided to ignore their constituents and support the socialist healthcare debacle.

So, can President Trump actually save us from ourselves? Can he get the GOP to coalesce around an Obamacare repeal that the entire caucus can agree on? I guess we’ll soon find out.
