The Israeli Air Force carries out an attack on an anti-aircraft battery in Syria after it opened fire on Israeli jets flying over Lebanon.
A spokesperson for the Israeli military confirmed the attack, which was launched just east of Damascus on Monday.
Officials say the Israeli planes were conducting a routine mission when they came under fire over the Lebanon-Syria border.
Neither of the jets were hit and returned to base safely.
Israel has remained on the side-lines of the Syrian civil war with this air-strike marking a major departure from previous small scale attacks.
