Let’s hear it for making American education great again!
Trump already aimed to expand school choice through his “Expanding Educational Freedom and Opportunity for Families” executive order.
The order takes aim at practices that “hinder … national competitiveness,” in particular the practices that disallow parents from choosing the best school for their children.
Naturally, the left freaked out over the mere idea of parents daring to have more power in their children’s education.
In addition, the Trump administration also passed another order – “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling” – which makes it very clear that critical race theory (CRT) and transgender militancy alike have no place in American educational settings.
“Parents have witnessed schools indoctrinate their children in radical, anti-American ideologies while deliberately blocking parental oversight. Such an environment operates as an echo chamber, in which students are forced to accept these ideologies without question or critical examination,” the order detailed.
Heck, even parents themselves are forced to accept it.
Who could possibly forget the number of parents targeted at school board meetings, all for daring to voice their discomfort with militant transgenderism?
Not to mention militant, highly divisive racial ideologies.
“In many cases, innocent children are compelled to adopt identities as either victims or oppressors solely based on their skin color and other immutable characteristics,” the order noted.
Yep. Setting up that good old division that Democrats have long since depended on for, well, the entire century to date so far.
“In other instances, young men and women are made to question whether they were born in the wrong body and whether to view their parents and their reality as enemies to be blamed,” the order continued.
And, in extreme cases, aiding and abetting schools in removing transgender children from such homes entirely.
Needless to say, the Trump administration will not stand for such nonsense in schools anymore.
“Steering students toward surgical and chemical mutilation without parental consent or involvement or allowing males access to private spaces designated for females may contravene Federal laws that protect parental rights,” the order declared.
Naturally, the order also included the facts, or the laws, to back up its remarks.
Specifically, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) are all potentially violated by public schools’ hard-core push to transgender madness.
And no longer will such schools serve as “safe spaces” that are really designed to subvert parental authority and, eventually, student sanity.
“Imprinting anti-American, subversive, harmful, and false ideologies on our Nation’s children not only violates longstanding anti-discrimination civil rights law in many cases, but usurps basic parental authority,” the order continued.
Talk about taking aim at some of the sickest practices that became acceptable in public schools under the Biden-Harris administration, including school-sanctioned “chemical mutilation” of children.
And, for schools that continue to defy Trump just as sanctuary cities have continued to unwisely defy him, the potential penalties are stiff.
Indeed, the penalties include “eliminating Federal funding or support for illegal and discriminatory treatment and indoctrination in K-12 schools, including based on gender ideology and discriminatory equity ideology.”
And not a moment too soon, considering how far behind in math many American students are, especially relative to other nations.
According to a report from National Assessment of Educational Programs (NAEP), the declines in math have been especially evident since the pandemic.
“In 2024, the average score at eighth grade was not significantly different from 2022 but was 8 points lower compared to 2019. Although the average score in 2024 did not significantly change compared to 2022, scores increased for higher-performing students at the 75th and 90th percentiles, while scores decreased for lower-performing students at the 10th and 25th percentiles,” the NAEP report detailed.
So, in other words, students’ math skills have significantly declined between 2019 and 2022, especially amongst students who were already struggling in the first place.
Yet another questionable aspect of the Biden-Harris administration’s legacy …
And another wrong that the Trump administration is seeking to right.
