Senator Mark Kelly has confirmed that he will “seriously consider” a run for president in 2028.

During an interview with the BBC on Monday, Kelly (D-Ariz.) revealed that multiple people have asked him to run for the White House in 2028.

The retired Navy captain gained national attention after the Department of Justice (DOJ) sought to indict him and several other Democrats for telling service-members to refuse so-called illegal orders.

A grand jury failed to indict Kelly but he still faces a demotion threat from the Department of War over his conduct.

The Arizona Democrat said he doesn’t know if he’d be the best candidate for the job.

He stressed that any decision would come only after discussions with his wife, Gabrielle Giffords, their daughters, and his twin brother.

“You know, with my wife, Gabby, with my two daughters, and my brother, I have a twin brother who was also an astronaut. Think about for a second how this would affect him. We’re identical twins,” he said.

“So, you know, I’ll seriously consider this, because we are in some seriously challenging times right now,” Kelly added.

Kelly said right now he’s focused on helping Democrats win the midterms before deciding on a White House run of his own.

“I have people talk to me about it all the time, but we have an election in 2026 that I’m really worried about,” Kelly stated. “We’ve got to get through that first. I will make a decision.”
