During a recent interview with podcaster and author Sharon McMahon, former Vice President Kamala Harris said she “might” run again for the United States’ top leadership position in 2028.
This follows an October 2025 BBC interview where Harris first hinted that she may try to win back Democrats in the lead up to the 2028 presidential election. Harris was directly asked if the first female president could be her, to which she responded, “Possibly.”
“I am not done,” she said at the time. “I have lived my entire career as a life of service, and it’s in my bones.”
A Tuesday clip from a Zoom call interview between the failed Democrat presidential candidate and “The Preamble Podcast” host Sharon McMahon circulated immediately online after the host had posed the question, “Will you run again?”
“I haven’t decided,” Harris said, before quickly adding, “I might.”
Harris also sparked rumors that she would initiate another presidential bid after she revived her KamalaHQ social media account. Attempting to reverse the party’s 2024 losses with young men and swing voters, Harris unveiled “Headquarters” — a permanent content hub aimed at Gen Z — earlier this month.
Meanwhile, during the recent discussion, McMahon told Harris that her memoir, “107 Days,” had given her the impression the former vice president wanted to run again for executive office. However, Harris dispelled the notion that her publication was part of a future campaign.
“The book was about a specific period in time,” Harris stated. “There was no agenda beyond what we’ve discussed already, which is just sharing with people the reality of the experience and hopefully allowing people to see something of themselves.”
Although the former VP hasn’t ruled out a future presidential bid, she has ruled out running for the California governorship amid the already crowded race to fill Governor Gavin Newsom’s (D-Calif.) seat.
