President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, scheduled to take effect at 5:00 p.m. EST (midnight local time).
In a Thursday morning Truth Social Post, Trump announced the agreement between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“These two leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST,” Trump revealed.

This announcement follows high-level peace talks held on Tuesday in Washington D.C., where representatives from Israel and Lebanon met to address the ongoing conflict. Since early March, Israel has been carrying out strikes on targets in Lebanon aimed at weakening Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group with a long history of attacks, including rocket fire, cross-border raids, and bombings.
The strikes came after a joint U.S.–Israeli campaign launched on February 28th, referred to as “Operation Epic Fury” in the United States and “Operation Roaring Lion” in Israel, targeting sites across Iran. U.S. officials said the operation was intended to weaken Iran’s military infrastructure, with a primary objective of dismantling its nuclear capabilities.
Trump highlighted the historic meeting between Israel and Lebanon.
“On Tuesday, the two Countries met for the first time in 34 years here in Washington, D.C., with our Great Secretary of State, Marco Rubio,” the president said.
“I have directed Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Rubio, together with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Razin’ Caine, to work with Israel and Lebanon to achieve Lasting PEACE,” he continued.

The president revealed that he would be inviting Netanyahu and Aoun to the White House “for the first meaningful talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983, a very long time ago.”
“Both sides want to see PEACE, and I believe that will happen, quickly!” Trump said.
Trump touted the declared ceasefire as another positive mark on his global peace efforts.
“It has been my Honor to solve 9 Wars across the World, and this will be my 10th, so let’s GET IT DONE!”
Despite the purported agreement to the ceasefire by Lebanon’s government, this does not signify compliance by the terrorist group Hezbollah.
Peace talks between the U.S. and Iran have stalled after the two countries were not able to reach agreements on key issues during mediated talks in Pakistan over the weekend, including on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. Navy implemented a blockade on the strait on Monday of ships leaving or entering Iranian ports or that have paid a toll to the Middle Eastern country.
During a Wednesday interview with Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo, Trump said the conflict in Iran is “very close to over.”
Pakistani mediators continue pushing for diplomacy and U.S. officials have voiced willingness, though Vance told Fox News that the “ball is very much in their court,” as the U.S. has clearly communicated its negotiation stance.
