# Grace Doesn’t Keep Score

## TODAY’S PASSAGE
From “Book 2 Voice Of Jesus copy 2” by Michael Canfield:

*pride. To systems built on exchange. Grace does not operate by transaction. It operates by gift. MICHAEL (Scripture): “Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.” (Romans 5:20) MICHAEL: How can grace increase where brokenness grows? JESUS: Because grace is not fragile. It does not retreat from darkness. It overwhelms it by refusing to become it. MICHAEL: So, grace is always available. JESUS: Always. But it can be resisted when shame convinces you that you are beyond it. MICHAEL: Then what would you say to readers who feel they have failed too often? JESUS: That grace was never waiting for*

## REFLECTION

How many times have you found yourself mentally tallying up your mistakes, convinced that you’ve finally exhausted God’s patience? We live in a world obsessed with transactions—earn enough good behavior points and maybe, just maybe, you’ll deserve love. But this passage reminds us of something revolutionary: grace doesn’t work that way. It’s not a limited resource that runs out when we mess up too many times. It’s a gift, freely given, that actually *increases* where our brokenness is deepest.

The image Jesus gives us here is breathtaking—grace doesn’t retreat from our darkness like it’s something fragile that might shatter. Instead, it rushes toward it with overwhelming power, not by fighting darkness with more darkness, but by simply refusing to become it. Think about that in your own life. When you’re at your lowest, when shame whispers that you’ve gone too far this time, grace isn’t backing away in disgust. It’s moving closer, more abundant than ever, waiting only for you to stop believing the lie that you’re beyond reach.

The real enemy isn’t our failure—it’s the shame that convinces us we’re disqualified from grace. Shame wants you to stay hidden, to believe the ledger is too unbalanced, that you’ve failed “too often.” But grace was never waiting for you to clean up first. It was never counting. It’s already here, already yours, already enough—no matter how many times you think you’ve blown it.

## THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…

Today, I’m letting go of the scorecard I’ve been keeping against myself. If grace operates by gift and not transaction, then I can stop trying to earn what’s already been freely given—and I can finally receive the overwhelming love that’s been waiting for me all along.
