King Charles III and Queen Camilla participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday as they finished out the last day of their historic trip to the United States.

The royals arrived in Washington, D.C. on Monday, beginning King Charles’ first visit to the U.S. since taking the throne in 2022.

Earlier on Thursday, they attended a farewell ceremony at the White House hosted by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

During the royals’ visit commemorating 250 years of American independence, they met multiple times with the president and first lady, including attending a State Arrival Ceremony and State Dinner on Tuesday. King Charles also gave an address to a joint session of Congress that afternoon, becoming the second British monarch and the first king to do so after his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, spoke to the legislative body in 1991.

On Wednesday, the royal couple also visited the 9/11 Memorial in New York City, becoming the first British monarchs to visit Ground Zero.

After paying their respects at Arlington Cemetery, King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to participate in a parade and block party in Front Royal, Virginia, in festivities related to America’s 250th anniversary of independence.
