DCNF - Payne Faulkner Port Strike - FeaturedFox Business host Charles Payne told Fox News host Harris Faulkner Tuesday that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris “just sat by” as a crippling strike at dozens of ports started.

The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) started striking at midnight Tuesday after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract. Payne said that Biden and Harris displayed “massive indifference” to how the effects of a strike would impact Americans.

“The entire agenda has been driven about who you want to favor, and for the most part the Biden Administration has favored the elites, the wealthy, the Bidens… The Biden-Harris agenda has favored and rewarded the wealthiest people in this country and of course, unions,” Payne told Faulkner. “But for the president to say he doesn’t believe in intervening, particularly on the heels of this storm over the weekend, is really mind-boggling. I mean, we are talking about these ports handle $3 trillion a year. One report says it could be $600,000,000 a day and this adds up very, very quickly.”

Biden told reporters he would likely not intervene, saying he opposed the Taft-Harley Act which authorizes him to impose a “cooling off” period, according to NBC News. Faulkner asked how long would it take for Americans to feel the impact.

“Do we have a month or two?” Faulkner asked, with Payne responding, “Not a month, you will see it in weeks.”

The strike could disrupt nearly half of imports into the United States, according to a study from MITRE Corporation. Faulkner noted that Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo refused to discuss the strike during a Monday interview on CNBC.

“There has never been a focus on economics, there has never been a focus on commerce,” Payne said. “Everything has been a focus on their agenda from day one and there is a massive indifference to Americans.”

Faulkner expressed disbelief that with the looming strike, the Biden administration failed to intervene.

“[Biden] knew weeks ago this was – that he was on the precipice, and everybody knew they were dealing with Harold Daggett, the head of that union,” Faulkner said. “I mean, come on, he just got reelected, he’s not going anywhere. He knows, he is a man in his power as they like to say. And so, with all of that Biden just sat by, Kamala Harris just sat by?”
