CNN correspondent MJ Lee was informed by a Harris campaign official that many Democrats privately feel that President Joe Biden bears “a lot of blame” for Vice President Kamala Harris’ defeat in Wednesday’s presidential election.

Votes were tabulated overnight, and Donald Trump emerged victorious in a political victory to win the presidency.
He won Georgia and Pennsylvania after winning North Carolina, all crucial swing states.
Following a poor performance during a CNN debate against Trump, Biden withdrew his run in July due to pressure from Democrat leaders and Harris’ team launched a 100-day sprint, earning enough delegates before stepping into the role of nominee.
As Democrats sift through the rubble of a crushing election night defeat, some Harris supporters are now accusing Biden of causing the negative outcome, CNN reported.
In an interview with host Wolf Blitzer on Monday, Lee shared what she had been informed of by a senior Harris campaign official:
“Obviously there will be a lot of soul-searching and a lot of questions in the coming days about what, if anything, could Democrats and the Harris campaign have done differently,” Lee stated.
“One thing we are clearly already starting to see take place is finger-pointing and the blame game,” he continued. “A lot of that will be erected at President Biden… even coming from some folks inside the Harris campaign.”
“One senior official that I talked to said Biden will hold a lot of blame and, frankly, they said he should. One of the ways in which he is being blamed right now actually goes back to the simple decision of seeking a second term and reelection and the first place,” Lee stated.
Lee went on to retrace the sequence of events that resulted in Biden’s withdrawal from the race.
“Remember back in 2020, when he was running, he initially said ‘I plan on being a transition and a bridge president.’ Of course, he changed his mind ultimately and said ‘I am the only person that can defeat Donald Trump. I have more work to do.’ And ended up seeking a second term…”
“Democrats are looking back on all of this and thinking about what about that parallel universe where Joe Biden had not sought a second term and there had been a full Democratic primary contest, where the party actually chose whoever they thought was going to be the strongest person to run a full campaign.”
“Again, one of many ways in which Democrats will be asking themselves tough questions, is that a lot of tough questions will be aimed at President Biden,” she concluded.
