‘Do not admit’: 3 U.S. Secret Service officials, including top spokesman, escorted out and stripped of security clearances

The United States Secret Service is probing “potential misconduct” as the agency’s director of communications, Anthony Guglielmi, and two other officials have been suspended and stripped of their security clearances as investigators probe how sensitive or classified information was given to news media.

Susan Crabtree, national political correspondent for RealClearPolitics reports: “The three were escorted from Secret Service headquarters in Washington, D.C., on Monday and formally designated ‘do not admit,’ meaning they are barred from entering agency facilities, two sources told RealClearPolitics, which first reported on the suspensions.

“One of those sources said both the FBI and CIA are participating in the inquiry, pointing to a probe with more weight than a routine internal personnel matter.

“All three employees are based in the communications office. Placing Secret Service agents or officials on administrative leave and suspending security clearances is standard practice during an investigation and not a confirmation of wrongdoing.”

The Secret Service gave CNN a statement on the matter confirming the suspensions.

“Three non-law enforcement personnel at the U.S. Secret Service have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into potential misconduct,” an agency spokesperson said.

“Per policy, this incident is being investigated by the Office of Professional Responsibility. We are unable to comment further at this time.”

The statement continued: “The U.S. Secret Service is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in fulfilling our zero-fail mission of protecting the President and other high-level government officials. Our critical work demands that our workforce maintain an unwavering commitment to duty, honesty, and courage in all aspects of their jobs. We will continue to pursue the level of excellence that is worthy of the mission which has been entrusted to us by the American people.”

The agency did not identify those suspended, nor did it indicate the accusations and whether or not the FBI or CIA was involved.

“It remains unclear whether the matter under investigation is connected to the furor earlier this year over President Trump’s abrupt, unannounced departure from Turkey – a move reportedly triggered by intelligence pointing to a possible surface-to-air missile threat against Air Force One from Iran,” Crabtree wrote.

Sean Davis, CEO at the Federalist, wondered: “Why on earth did it take more than two years before corrupt Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi was suspended, let alone fired?

“He is a complete liar and fabulist who repeatedly lied about the Butler assassination attempt and the Biden administration’s refusal to provide Trump with adequate security. The Secret Service is a disaster, the entire culture is rotten, and the fact that people like Guglielmi are still there is proof.”

Jim Hoft at the Gateway Pundit noted: “If classified details about an emergency operation to protect the president were deliberately handed to reporters, that would represent a breathtaking betrayal of national security and potentially place President Trump, Secret Service agents, military personnel and innocent passengers in grave danger.

“The American people deserve to know who leaked this information, what was disclosed and whether anyone inside the federal government compromised the safety of the president for political or personal reasons.”
