TODAY’S PASSAGE
From “Voice Of Jesus 2” by Michael Canfield:
I did not understand the hurt caused by this man or the aftermath of bankruptcy. All I knew was sorrow, mental pain, and suffering. Peace, please explain my lesson to the readers and what you were guiding me toward. My dear one, when pain is not understood, it seeks meaning wherever it can attach. Forgiveness is not for the one who caused the injury — it is for the one who carries it forward. When you forgave, you released yourself from what no longer belonged to you. Forgiveness reflects the nature of your Creator — Love itself. In choosing forgiveness, you allowed Love to replace confusion and clarity to replace pain. After the bankruptcy, we moved into a temporary second-story flat. Nearby was a lake, and at the end of a dock sat a beautiful sailboat. The scent of the water and the movement of the air were irresistible.
REFLECTION
How many of us carry wounds that were never meant to be ours to keep? We hold onto betrayals, disappointments, and injuries like precious possessions, not realizing they’ve become chains. Michael Canfield’s experience with bankruptcy and betrayal reveals a profound truth: when we don’t understand our pain, it burrows deeper, seeking something—anything—to make sense of the chaos. But here’s what Peace reveals in this beautiful passage: forgiveness isn’t about letting someone off the hook. It’s about unhooking yourself from the weight that’s been dragging you down.
Think about that person who wronged you, that situation that still makes your stomach clench when you remember it. You might believe that forgiving them means they win, or that your anger is somehow protecting you. But Peace speaks a different truth: forgiveness is the key that unlocks your own prison. When you forgive, you’re not saying what happened was okay—you’re saying that you refuse to let it define your future. You’re choosing to reflect the nature of your Creator, which is Love itself. And in that choice, something miraculous happens: Love replaces confusion, and clarity replaces pain.
Notice what happens after Michael forgives—he moves to a temporary flat, yes, but nearby there’s a lake, a dock, a beautiful sailboat. The scent of water, the movement of air, life becoming irresistible again. That’s what forgiveness does. It doesn’t erase the past or make the bankruptcy disappear, but it opens your senses to beauty again. It allows you to breathe. When you release what no longer belongs to you, you make room for what does: peace, clarity, and the gentle guidance of Love leading you forward, even when the path looks nothing like what you planned.
THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…
What burden are you carrying today that was never meant to be yours? Is there someone—or some situation—that you need to forgive, not for their sake, but for your own freedom? Love is calling you to release what no longer serves you and to discover the irresistible beauty waiting on the other side of forgiveness.
