TODAY’S PASSAGE

From “Voice Of Jesus 2” by Michael Canfield:

No. Grace is strength that does not need to dominate. Mercy that does not keep score. Because grace is not fragile. It does not retreat from darkness. It overwhelms it Grace is the first word, the sustaining word, and the word that remains when all others fall silent. You are not held together by your consistency. You are held by Grace, not permission to remain unchanged. It is the

REFLECTION

How many times have we tried to hold ourselves together through sheer willpower and perfect consistency? We wake up determined to be better, do better, never stumble again. And then we fail. Again. We keep score of our mistakes, tallying them up like evidence against ourselves. But this passage reveals a revolutionary truth: you are not held together by your consistency. You are held by Grace. That changes everything.

Grace is not the fragile, delicate thing we’ve sometimes imagined—something we might break if we’re not careful enough. No, grace is strength that does not need to dominate. It doesn’t bully you into submission or demand perfection before it shows up. It’s mercy that refuses to keep a running list of your failures. Grace meets you in your darkest moments not to retreat in disgust, but to overwhelm the darkness with light. When every other word fails you—when you’ve run out of excuses, explanations, and promises to do better—grace remains. It is the first word spoken over you, the sustaining word that carries you through, and the final word that echoes into eternity.

This isn’t permission to remain unchanged, as the passage reminds us. Grace doesn’t say, “Stay exactly as you are forever.” Rather, it says, “You are loved exactly as you are right now, and that love is powerful enough to transform you.” There’s no scorecard. No probation period. No performance review before you’re accepted. You are held—completely, securely, unshakably—by a grace that is stronger than your worst day and more persistent than your deepest doubt.

THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…

Today, wherever you find yourself—whether you’re celebrating a victory or picking up the pieces from a failure—you are held by Grace. Not by how well you performed yesterday, not by promises you may or may not keep tomorrow, but by a love that does not retreat, does not keep score, and will not let you go.
