TODAY’S PASSAGE

From “Voice Of Jesus 2” by Michael Canfield:

“For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.” “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body,” “The word of God is living and active… discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” “Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.”

REFLECTION

There’s something both sobering and liberating about knowing that everything hidden will eventually come to light. In our daily lives, we carry so many secrets—resentments we won’t admit, judgments we hide behind smiles, wounds we pretend don’t exist. We think we’re fooling everyone, maybe even fooling God. But this passage from Michael Canfield’s “Voice Of Jesus 2” reminds us of a profound truth: the living Word of God sees straight through to our hearts’ true intentions. Nothing escapes His loving, discerning gaze.

The warning about hatred being equivalent to murder might seem harsh at first, but it reveals how seriously God takes the condition of our hearts. When we harbor bitterness toward a coworker, nurse grudges against family members, or silently wish ill upon those who’ve wronged us, we’re poisoning our own souls. That contempt we’re holding onto? It’s not hurting them—it’s killing the eternal life within us. Christ isn’t interested in our polished exteriors or our carefully curated social media personas. He’s looking at what’s real, what’s underneath, what we do when no one else is watching.

But here’s the beautiful part: if everything will be brought to light anyway, why not bring it into the light now? Why not confess those hidden resentments, release that secret hatred, and let God’s love transform what we’ve been hiding in darkness? The judgment seat of Christ isn’t meant to terrify us into performance—it’s meant to invite us into authenticity. When we live transparently before God today, acknowledging our struggles and surrendering our hearts to His refining love, we don’t have to fear tomorrow’s revelation. We can walk in freedom, knowing that what’s in our hearts matches what’s on our lips.

THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…

This passage invites us to examine our hearts today with honesty and courage. Is there someone you’re harboring resentment toward, a secret bitterness you’ve justified or hidden away? What would it look like to bring that into the light right now, to let God’s living Word discern and heal what you’ve been carrying in darkness?
