TODAY’S PASSAGE
From “Voice Of Jesus 2” by Michael Canfield:
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body,”
REFLECTION
These words remind us of a profound truth that can transform how we live each day: our lives matter eternally. Every choice we make, every word we speak, every act of kindness or moment of selfishness—they all carry weight beyond this temporary world. This isn’t meant to fill us with fear, but rather to awaken us to the incredible significance of our daily lives. When we understand that we will one day stand before Christ and give account for how we lived, it changes everything. Suddenly, the way we treat the difficult coworker, the patience we show our children, the integrity we maintain when no one is watching—it all takes on eternal meaning.
The beauty in this passage is that it levels the playing field completely. We all will appear before Christ—not just the famous or the powerful, not just the religious leaders or the obvious sinners. Each one of us, regardless of status or background, will have this appointment with divine love and justice. This should humble us and motivate us simultaneously. It means that the single mother working two jobs to feed her children is just as significant in God’s eyes as the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. What matters isn’t our earthly position, but what we did with what we were given—how we loved, how we served, how we reflected Christ’s character in our unique circumstances.
Living with this eternal perspective doesn’t mean walking around in constant anxiety about judgment. Rather, it’s an invitation to live with intention, purpose, and love. When we know our actions have lasting consequences, we’re inspired to make them count for good. That difficult conversation you’ve been avoiding? Have it with love. That person who hurt you? Forgive them, not just for their sake, but for yours and for eternity. That dream God placed in your heart? Pursue it faithfully. We’re not earning our salvation through good works—that’s already been secured through Christ—but we are building a legacy that will be evaluated by Love Himself. And when we stand before Him, may we hear those words we all long for: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…
This passage invites you to pause and consider: if today were the day you stood before Christ, what would your life say about what you truly valued? How might living with an eternal perspective change the decision you’re facing right now, the relationship you’re navigating, or the dream you’re pursuing?
