TODAY’S PASSAGE
From “Voice Of Jesus 2” by Michael Canfield:
I felt a strong need to confirm what had happened — to validate our shared experience. I knew of a respected psychic and believed this might provide confirmation, like a second opinion. I discussed it with Emily, and she agreed.
REFLECTION
There’s something deeply human about needing confirmation when we’ve experienced something extraordinary. We’ve all been there—those moments when something profound touches our soul, and we find ourselves looking around, wondering, “Did that really just happen? Did anyone else feel that?” Michael’s honesty in this passage reminds us that even in our most spiritual moments, we’re still beautifully, wonderfully human. Seeking validation isn’t a sign of weak faith; it’s a sign of wisdom. We want to know we’re not alone in what we’ve experienced, that others can witness the sacred alongside us.
What strikes me most is the vulnerability here. Michael doesn’t pretend to have it all figured out. He doesn’t claim some superior spiritual certainty that needs no outside perspective. Instead, he does what the wisest among us do—he seeks counsel, he invites another trusted voice into the conversation, and he includes Emily in the decision. This is faith in action: not blind acceptance, but thoughtful discernment. It reminds me that God doesn’t ask us to abandon our reasoning minds when we open our spiritual hearts. The divine speaks through many channels, and sometimes confirmation comes from unexpected sources.
In our modern world, we’re often told to trust only what we can see and measure, or conversely, to accept spiritual experiences without question. But this passage shows us a third way—the path of seeking wise counsel while honoring our experiences. When something sacred touches your life, it’s okay to want a second opinion. It’s okay to need someone else to help you understand what you’ve witnessed. Love doesn’t demand blind faith; it invites us into deeper understanding, often through the wisdom of others who walk the spiritual path alongside us.
THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…
Have you experienced something in your spiritual life that left you seeking confirmation? Perhaps you’ve felt a divine presence, received an answer to prayer, or witnessed something that defied explanation. How might seeking wise counsel help you understand and honor that experience more fully today?
