Senate leaders strike a deal on judicial nominees setting up an early recess for lawmakers ahead of November’s elections.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reached a deal with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Thursday on a package of 15 judges.

All of the nominees are expected to pass a vote in the wake of strong opposition against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The move allows Republicans to confirm the judges, while allowing lawmakers to return to their home states ahead of elections.

This comes as good news for vulnerable candidates in the Senate, as they were scheduled to remain in session until October 26.
