TODAY’S PASSAGE
From “Voice Of Jesus 2” by Michael Canfield:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
REFLECTION
There’s something profoundly liberating about this promise. We live in a world that often keeps score, that remembers our mistakes and holds them against us. But here, in these words, we find a different reality—one where honesty about our failings doesn’t lead to condemnation but to cleansing. When we carry the weight of our mistakes in silence, they grow heavier. We replay them in our minds, we let shame build walls around our hearts, and we distance ourselves from the very love that could set us free. But confession—true, honest confession—opens the door to something miraculous.
Notice the beautiful assurance in this passage: He is faithful and just. This isn’t about earning forgiveness through perfect performance or endless penance. God’s faithfulness means He keeps His promises, always. His justice means that through Jesus, the penalty has already been paid. We don’t have to wonder if we’ve said the right words or felt sorry enough. When we simply come as we are, acknowledging where we’ve fallen short, we meet a God who is already waiting with open arms. This is the heart of divine love—not a love that overlooks sin, but one that actively removes it, washing us clean and restoring us completely.
The promise doesn’t stop at forgiveness—it extends to cleansing from all unrighteousness. Every stain, every shadow, every lingering effect of our mistakes can be washed away. This is the daily invitation we have: to live in the freedom of confession rather than the prison of pretense. Whether it’s a harsh word spoken this morning, a pattern of behavior we’ve struggled with for years, or a secret burden we’ve never shared with anyone—nothing is beyond the reach of His cleansing love. We don’t have to carry yesterday’s failures into today. We can begin again, made new, made clean, made whole.
THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…
What burden are you carrying today that you’ve been afraid to confess? What would it feel like to lay it down and receive the faithful forgiveness that’s already waiting for you? This passage reminds us that we don’t have to live under the weight of our past—confession opens the door to complete cleansing and a fresh start.
