Biden and Trump were photographed smiling in the Oval Office. Trump even noted that they “both really enjoyed seeing each other.”
“We got to know each other again.”
Following the photo opportunity, and after kicking reporters out of the Oval Office, Trump and Biden held a nearly two hour closed-door meeting.
“You know, it’s been a long, it’s been a long slog,” Trump stated, according to the New York Post. “It’s been a lot of work on both sides and he did a very good job with respect to campaigning and everything else. We really had a really good meeting.”
Trump and Biden reportedly discussed the peaceful transition of power that will occur on January 20th, with Trump adding that the imminent transition will be “as smooth as can be.” Trump and Biden also discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine as well as the ongoing war between Israel and Islamist terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.
“I wanted – I asked for his views and he gave them to me,” Trump stated. “Also, we talked very much about the Middle East, likewise. I wanted to know his views on where we are and what he thinks. And he gave them to me, he was very gracious.”
Both Trump and Biden have previously taken numerous public jabs at each other, however, the post election meeting was more cordial as the political battle between the two came to an end with Trump beating Kamala Harris, Biden’s VP, as the final power struggle.
Social media users have speculated that President Biden had secretly wanted Trump to win, since Biden was swiftly ousted by his own party and his re-election efforts were shut down by Democrat party elites in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris.
In September, Biden was also seen wearing a pro-Trump MAGA hat, which he put on his head to prompt cheers and laughter from nearby onlookers at an event in Pennsylvania.
Jill Biden was also notably seen wearing an all red suit to vote on Election Day, leaving social media users to speculate that the first lady was possibly voting for Trump, and that she could still be frustrated by her husband’s public ousting.
Trump said that he expects to meet with Biden prior to his inauguration, which Biden agreed to attend.
“The Oval Office is so beautiful and I do certainly look forward [to being back],” Trump added.
