President Donald Trump plans to announce a $25 million program Tuesday offering rewards of up to $30,000 for tips that lead to convictions for government fraud, according to the White House.

The Justice Department will administer the program, and tips will be submitted through a government website, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The initiative is part of an effort by Vice President JD Vance’s anti-fraud task force, which was launched this year to investigate the misuse of public funds.

The task force has opened investigations into suspected fraud involving medical supply programs, food assistance benefits, and the Affordable Care Act.

“This administration has zero tolerance for individuals who steal from Americans,” White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said.

As part of Tuesday’s announcement, Trump will present Nick Shirley, a conservative online content creator, with a $10,000 check, the White House said.

Shirley produced a viral video last year alleging fraud involving daycare centers. Minnesota news outlets subsequently challenged and debunked some of the allegations.

The White House did not specify whether Shirley’s payment was tied to a tip that resulted in a conviction.

Trump has focused on a multiyear fraud scandal in Minnesota in which federal prosecutors accused dozens of residents of Somali descent of stealing taxpayer money through fraudulent social services operations.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz abandoned his bid for a third term earlier this year in the wake of the scandal.

The rewards program is the latest initiative by Vance’s task force to identify suspected fraud in federal programs.

Last month, the task force announced plans to remove hundreds of thousands of enrollments from Affordable Care Act health insurance exchanges, saying the individuals listed either failed to meet eligibility requirements or did not exist.
