(RightIsRight.co) – ‘I think we should take over Washington D.C.’ was the statement that President Donald Trump told reporters, referring to putting an end to the rampant crime and homelessness plaguing the nation’s capital.

See the video below.

The President’s proposal to bring the city under federal oversight promises to restore law and order and clean up the streets.

In a recent statement, President Trump endorsed efforts to place Washington, D.C., under direct federal control.

Trump’s proposal responds to what he sees as mismanagement by local officials, particularly regarding public safety and cleanliness issues in the city.

“I think we should take over Washington, D.C., — make it safe, I think that we should govern [the] District of Columbia,” Trump declared.

Trump did not mince words when describing the current state of affairs in D.C. He pointed out the alarming increase in crime rates and the visible signs of urban decay, such as homeless encampments on public property.

“They’re not doing the job, too much crime, too much – too many tents on the lawns – these magnificent lawns,” Trump stated, painting a picture of a once-proud city now in decline.

Moreover, Trump’s concerns extend beyond aesthetic issues. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a presentable city, especially when hosting foreign leaders.

While some may criticize this proposal as an overreach of federal power, it is important to note that Washington, D.C., is not a state but a federal district.

With a population of around 700,000, the city currently operates under a Home Rule authority, which allows for local governance but still gives Congress the power to review and overturn D.C. laws.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), a staunch supporter of increased federal oversight, did not hold back in his assessment of the situation.

“The corruption, crime, and incompetence of the DC government has been an embarrassment to our nation’s capital for decades,” Lee stated.

Predictably, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has resisted Trump’s proposal, claiming that Washington is a “world-class city.”

However, her weak defense and failure to address the specific concerns raised by Trump and others speak volumes about the current administration’s inability or unwillingness to tackle these pressing issues.

As the debate over Washington, D.C.’s future governance intensifies, Americans nationwide will be closely watching.

With Trump at the helm of this initiative, the stakes are higher than ever for those who champion states’ rights and decentralized government authority.
