President blasts ‘fake news’ report by network which some say ‘sure sounds a lot like cheerleading for Iran’

As the conflict with Iran enters its seventh month, President Donald Trump on Tuesday wondered: “When are the Iranian people going to rise up and fight?”

Trump’s comment on Truth Social came as he dismissed the idea the U.S. was trying to pressure the Islamic Republic to renew peace talks.

“I’m not trying to force Iran to the bargaining table, as ABC Fake News reported,” Trump explained. “I couldn’t care less if they sign a worthless, to them, agreement.”

“I like our position now much better, with almost total control of the Hormuz Strait, and their economy totally collapsing. They are just playing out the inevitable.”

Trump was apparently responding to an ABC News report by its chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce in which she stated: “The Trump administration is trying to turn up the economic pressure on Iran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent saying there are going to economically asphyxiate Iran and force them to the bargaining table. But … so far no signs Iran is giving in.”
