The White House appears open to re-evaluating its stance on Huawei, in order to revive trade talks with China.
White House Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will host a meeting about the issue on Monday. Tech executives from companies like Intel and Qualcomm are expected to attend.
In May, President Trump placed Huawei, the world’s largest telecommunications manufacturer, on a blacklist, citing national security concerns. However, the administration has since walked back on parts of that announcement.
In the coming weeks, the U.S. will begin allowing American companies on a case-by-case basis to buy from Huawei.
