Protesters confront police at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021.
There’s already been a special congressional committee to investigate the events of Jan. 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol.
That’s when a few hundred Trump supporters protested what they saw as the suspect results of the 2020 presidential election. Many of them protested by walking into the Capitol, through doors often held open for them by security officers.
Actually, a few rioted and broke windows and such.
But the Joe Biden Department of Justice threw every charge at them that could be found, including some that were improper, and President Donald Trump now has pardoned almost all.

That committee, however, was set up by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a partisan basis – she refused to allow nominated Republicans to join. And she selected her own anti-Trump members of the GOP.
The result was that they essentially orchestrated a televised trial of Trump, excluding evidence that support his concerns, hiring stage managers to present their anti-Trump condemnation the best they could. And they destroyed evidence going out the door.
Turns out, whatever they did, or didn’t do, they were granted presidential pardons by Biden.
It’s not over.
The Federalist is reporting that there’s going to be a new J6 committee, in the Judiciary Committee, “to help Republicans uncover FBI abuses.”
The goal will be to find out “what really happened” at the protest that day, “including the presence of FBI informants in the crowd, the placement and discovery of pipe bombs at party offices, and various other FBI abuses,” the report explained.
To be led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., the select subcommittee will build on what GOP investigators in the last Congress confirmed. Those results included 40,000 hours of security footage from that day being released.
And there were “interviews suppressed by [Liz] Cheney’s committee that disputed her made-for-TV allegations.” Congress later referred Cheney for prosecution over her tampering with star witness Cassidy Hutchinson. “Hutchinson, a low-level Trump aide, began dramatically changing her story after clandestine correspondence with the former Republican representative. Cheney, who was hand-selected by former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to run the committee and its televised show trial, accepted a pardon for her alleged witness tampering and other crimes she may have committed,” the Federalist report said.
Cheney, in fact, was fired from Congress by her voters in the first election where they could do that, by a landslide.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has confirmed, “The Jan 6 Select Committee manipulated AND destroyed evidence — created a fake, phony narrative all to try and hurt Trump. They even hired a TV producer from the legacy media in a desperate attempt to legitimize what Americans knew was a total hoax and complete waste of time. Be assured of this: House Republicans WILL continue our investigation into this corrupt committee and it will be FULLY FUNDED so it can continue next Congress.”
The report notes that evidence now has confirmed that Cheney suppressed evidence that Trump pushed for 10,000 National Guard troops to protect the Capitol.
She falsely claimed she had “no evidence” to support that. In fact, Pelosi’s own daughter released a video in which Pelosi admits Democrats held culpability for that day.
And evidence shows that as early as testimony from an interview from January 2022 that the White House had urged Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser to ask for Guard troops, and that Trump had suggested 10,000.
That testimony, however, was suppressed by Pelosi’s partisan committee.
