TODAY’S PASSAGE

We called the doctor and let him know. He replied casually, “Hold your horses. I’m having dinner. I’ll be there in an hour or two.” We gathered what we needed and drove to the Sleepy Hollow Motel, where everything had already been prepared. Word spread quickly. People began arriving — mostly out of curiosity sparked by the stories we had shared with guests and family alike. Many knew about Emily’s vision: that our son would be born on November 3, 1978, at exactly 8:00 p.m. He showed up sometime between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. The birth unfolded exactly as predicted — calm, orderly, and precise. I was the first person our son saw.
REFLECTION
There’s something profoundly beautiful about watching God’s promises unfold in real time. Here we see a moment when heaven and earth touched — when a vision given to Emily became flesh and blood reality. The doctor could afford to be casual about his dinner plans, but divine timing doesn’t wait for human convenience. This child was coming according to a higher schedule, one that had been revealed beforehand as a gift of faith and confirmation.
What strikes me most is the gathering of witnesses. People came “mostly out of curiosity,” drawn by stories they’d heard. How often do we dismiss the testimonies of others as too extraordinary, too specific, too impossible? Yet here were people willing to show up, to see if what had been spoken would actually come to pass. And it did. Calm, orderly, precise — just as promised. Sometimes our greatest act of faith is simply showing up to witness what God has already set in motion.
The final line carries such tender weight: “I was the first person our son saw.” In that sacred moment, a father became the earthly reflection of divine love welcoming a soul into the world. This wasn’t just a birth; it was a confirmation that when we align ourselves with divine guidance, when we trust the visions and whispers given to us, we participate in miracles. We become the hands and eyes through which heaven touches earth, through which love makes itself known in the most intimate and powerful ways.
THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…
Today, I’m reminded that God still speaks specific promises into our lives — and keeps them. When has heaven given you a word, a vision, a deep knowing that seemed too precise to be real? Perhaps today is your invitation to trust again, to prepare the room, to show up for what’s been promised, even if others are casual about the timing. Divine appointments don’t require permission; they require presence.
